Main Character Moments:

Growing up, I would always associate New York with movies and famous postcards. Even as I lived here, I would often have an odd feeling as I was still viewing New York through a TV screen. Every time I go out to explore the city it would feel like more than just a simple walk, there would always be a certain scene stuck in my head, whether it was a youtube video or a film shot on the streets viewed through a color-graded filter and with a musical score accompanying every moment.

With this project, I wanted to show how I see and experience the city through my “main character moments”, where I often imagine myself in a movie scene. Each photograph is associated with a piece of music that I feel conveys the aura of the scene and the feelings I had when I experienced these moments for the first time.
